Jigging off Sydney

After a few weeks of bad weather and commitments we finally got out for a fish on sunday. It was a late start, the seas were choppy and we weren't expecting too much but 2nd drop i got a hit and third drop I landed this kingfish. The jig that did the damage was a 250 gm Zest green and gold centre weight. The seas flattened out and it turned into a beautiful afternoon. Unfortunately we couldn't find any more fish possibly due to a pod of dolphins moving through. We did however see a whale breach, its entire body getting airborne about 60 meters from the boat.. it was an awesome sight!

A brief report - may, june and july

I decided to give a brief summary of the fish caught over the past few months as i can’t recall exact dates, and as this is my first post it will help me figure out how it all works :)

A salmon, kingfish double hookup on the old faithful South head to Bondi trawl. Red hat does it again..

A good sized salmon off Bondi.

This day we caught about 20 juvenile dolphin fish. They were swarming around the back of the boat and it was thrilling to watch them swim up and attack our unweighted baits. Beautiful colors..

This was the day after... no dolphin fish, however after trolling most of the day in sloppy conditions we spied birds diving into the water..

first pass resulted in a triple hookup but all fish were dropped. We upped the strike drag and landed about 10 striped tuna before conditions got too uncomfortable we released some and kept a few for the table.

Me very tired after a long day and happy to be back in calmer waters..

Josh with some tuna..

Last troll of the day..

Cubing on sunset at browns mountain. No tuna this day.

A little bonito off Bondi.
